TRANSPORTATION

Walkers:

Student who walk to school should time their walk so that they arrive at school between 8:30 and 9:05.  Walkers are expected to enter the campus through the walkers gate located on Beecher St. at the south end of campus next to the gymnasium.  Students are expected to follow the walkway around to the center courtyard and wait for permission to disperse to class.

Bicycles:

Students are allowed to ride their bicycles to school; however, the school is not responsible for stolen or damaged bicycles. All students are urged to register their bicycles with the police or sheriff's department. If your bicycle is stolen, notify the main office by filling out a theft report and call the police department immediately.

  1. Students who ride their bicycles must observe the following rules:

  2. Bike rider should enter the campus via the walkers gate on Beecher St.

  3. Do not ride your bicycle on campus. Walk your bicycle from the edge of the campus to the bicycle compound. Use the sidewalks and routes designated.

  4. All bicycles must be kept in the bicycle compound and should be securely locked. The student must provide the chain and lock.

  5. DO NOT LOCK YOUR BICYCLE UP WITH ANY OTHER BICYCLE. The office will NOT call another student out of class if you must leave early.

1.   Any student who lives two miles or more from school is eligible to ride the bus without cost.

2.   All students riding school buses should recognize that transportation service is a privilege and therefore the rights of all should be respected. All school rules must be observed on the bus; failure to do so will result in a referral and disciplinary action, which may include suspension from the bus.

3.   The school does not approve notes for students to ride a different bus home.

Cars:

  1. Students who are brought to school in a private vehicle should be dropped off between 8:30 and 9:05 am. Students will not be allowed onto the campus proper before 8:30 am.

  2. Parents are asked to use the main entrance off of Red Raider Lane and drop students off at the front entrance.

  3. Afternoon pick up begins at 4:00 pm. All students are expected to be picked up prior to 4:30 pm.

Daily Dismissal

All students are to be out of the building and off campus by 4:15 p.m. (3:15 p.m. on Wednesdays) unless serving a detention or participating in an after school activity.  Students are to get books needed for home study before the start of daily review.

The STATE has determined that 30 minutes is a reasonable time for students to leave campus after they are dismissed.  Therefore the Lake County School Board and Carver Middle School will not be responsible for students who remain after this time.
