Minneola Elementary Charter School will participate in Global Play Day 2016. Global Play Day is "A day of promoting the importance of regular play for the best development of children." Over 100,000 students from six continents are registered to play all day on Feb. 3rd! Our students are encouraged to bring in board games. We will be spending the day at play without any screen time, so please do not send in electronics.
Minneola Elementary Charter School is looking for volunteers to participate in our “Careers on Wheels Day” to be held in the spring. We plan to schedule this event during the student lunch time hours (11:00 to 1:30 PM) on school grounds. We would like the career vehicles to be available for demonstration and answer questions from the students. We’re excited to kick off the MINNEOLA FUN RUN on Monday, Feb. 1st! The two primary goals of the Minneola Fun Run are to teach your students about how to play with character during Big World Recess and to raise $10,000 for Student t-shirts, a new popcorn machine, and a FREE movie night for students! We need your help to connect your child to sponsors! Your student will come home on Monday, Feb. 1st with their Boosterthon Pledgebook. The Pledgebook has everything you need to get started. Simply log on to www.funrun.com, and follow the prompts to register your student.
Celebrate Literacy Week: Wednesday is Read with a Flashlight day, because "Books Light Up Our World!" Thursday is our Annual Bookmark Contest -Students will create a bookmark relating to the theme “Literacy Changes Our World.” Winners will have their bookmarks mass-produced and picture will be hung in the school foyer. Students may work on the bookmark at school or at home. All bookmark entries are due Monday, Feb. 1st to the classroom teacher. Friday is Shelfies! Selfies + books on a shelf = “Shelfies.” Teachers and/or students will take a picture of themselves in front of a favorite shelf of books or cozy classroom library.
