The Substitute Teacher Application Process is now open.
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Substitute Teacher with Lake County Schools. Substitute Teachers provide a valuable service to our students and schools. As a Substitute Teacher, you will work on an as-needed basis, selecting jobs based on when and where you would like to work. This flexible schedule is well-suited for those who are pursuing a degree in education, parents with children in school, or retirees.

Applying to become a Substitute Teacher
When creating your account in the online application system, make sure you select the 'Relief Bus Driver/Substitute/Lay Coach' applicant type as shown below:
Please note: your application must include a minimum of 2 references with a contact number and email address to be considered complete. After the application is complete, you must click on the 'Jobs' tab, then click on 'All Jobs' as shown below:
You must then click on the VIEW/APPLY button next to the Substitute Teacher posting to apply for the position.
As indicated on the Substitute Teacher job description (click here), the minimum qualifications for this position are:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Florida educator certification preferred
Additional job requirements include:
- Reliable Transportation
- Access to the Internet
- Ability to work as a substitute teacher at least 3 days a month
Pay Rate for Substitute Teachers
High School Diploma or GED $65.00 per day
AA Degree or 60 College Credits $75.00 per day
BA Degree or Higher $85.00 per day
Current Florida Certified Teacher $95.00 per day
