Groveland Elementary students are ‘Heart Heroes’

The Groveland Elementary School Panthers are officially Heart Heroes after participating with the American Heart Association Jump Rope For Heart Event this month.Groveland Elementary student Sienna Cruzado is showing her support by jumping for the American Heart Association.

During the two weeks leading up to this event students were educated with daily Heart Healthy Tips and Facts and collected donations all to benefit the American Heart Association.

“Event day was a success” said Annette Galassi with the school’s Physical Education Department. “The children were full of excitement even before they got to the field.”

The students rotated through a variety of stations on the P.E. field where they were able to enjoy different jumping activities. At the education station students learned how to take their pulse.

The school’s Art Department created the American Heart Association banner and fifth grade students were photographed as a giant red heart.

“There was a lot red on campus and a lot of green for the American Heart Association, as the students did a fantastic job in raising over $3,600 for this wonderful cause,” Galassi said.
