Carver Middle employee receives recognition from Leesburg Police

Teri McDaniel, Bookkeeper at Carver Middle, received an exceptional notice from Leesburg Police Chief Bill Chrisman.

Teri McDaniel, Bookkeeper at Carver Middle, received an exceptional notice from Leesburg Police Chief Bill Chrisman. McDaniel was contacted by the Leesburg Police Department in reference to a missing 12-year-old child on Oct. 25. The child was last seen at Carver Middle School and Leesburg Police discovered that the child was a Carver Middle student.

McDaniel verified and obtained information to help identify friends of the child that he may have left with. She quickly offered the times the child was present at school and also contacted teachers to find out names of possible friends. McDaniel responded to the school after her workday hours and offered to view the surveillance system, if needed. Along with her efforts, the City of Leesburg Sports Complex and Leesburg Police, the missing child was located at a friend’s home.

Chief Chrisman stated in a letter, “Even though the child was safe, if it had not been for the combined actions, the child would not have been located in such a timely manner. Mrs. McDaniel demonstrated a high level of dedication to the citizens of Leesburg and to the children of Carver Middle School that is above and beyond what is expected. She is truly an asset to the school and this community.”
