Sorrento Elem. crafts a win at gingerbread house contest
Congratulations to students at Sorrento Elementary School’s Early Learning Center (ELC) students for their entry in the 2nd Annual Habitat for Humanity Gingerbread House contest at Seminole Towne Center.
On Dec. 9, the Sorrento Elementary ELC third, fourth and fifth grade target tutoring groups won first place in the youth category. Students were awarded an engraved silver snow globe and a certificate from the Habitat for Humanity.
During the process of making the gingerbread house, third grade teachers Mary Griffith and Mary Jane Lanning helped students use math, science and cooperation skills to measure, design and construct their house.
“We are so proud of our Sorrento Elementary students,” said Susan Pegram, Principal at Sorrento Elementary. “We would like to give a special recognition to the ELC director Tammy Hoagland and Jamie Knudsen for their help and support with the project.”
