Clermont Middle School hosted a community fundraiser last month to benefit the Newtown Memorial Fund and raised more than $4,100.
The Newtown Memorial Fund was founded only a few days after the events in Newtown, Conn. The fund directly serves the needs of the victims’ families. Once the needs are met, the funds are being used to design and build a memorial in Newtown for each victim and fund scholarships in the names of each of the victims.
Dinner was provided by Spiros Pizza, Oakwood Smokehouse & Grill and Donut King. Drinks and serving items were provided by Winn-Dixie, Chick-fil-A, and BJ’s Wholesale Club. The Clermont police and fire departments brought their vehicles to display to the community. Children were able to see firsthand inside the vehicles. Entertainment was provided by the Clermont Middle School Jazz Band and local artists Paul Stone and the Bass Tones, Tayler Buono, Azriel Clary and Ms. Livey.
“The fundraiser was quite a success, raising over $4,100,” said Steve Benson, Principal at Clermont Middle School. “I appreciate the efforts of Ivette Ciccio, a Science teacher here at Clermont Middle, who was the primary organizer of the event. I am also grateful for the Clermont Middle PTO, various student organizations, and staff that were on hand to serve and assist.”
