Leesburg High student wins first place in MLK oratorical contest

Leesburg High student wins first place  Students from middle and high schools in Lake and Sumter counties participated in the 9th Annual Literary Contest this month with Leesburg High student Emmie Palmer winning first place in the oratorical contest.

Students competed in essay, oratorical, art or skit/theatrical acts for certificates, trophies and cash prizes. For the oratorical contest, participants were required to incorporate the theme “Making the Dream a Reality” into their five-minute speech. A written copy of each entry was submitted to judges and was judged for grammar, spelling and punctuation.
