The new head football coach at East Ridge High School brings a wealth of experience to the gridiron, including time spent playing professional football for the Chicago Bears.
The East Ridge High Knights football team was notified today that Ken Knapczyk will be their next head coach. A committee of school staff, booster club members, community members, football players and parents selected Knapczyk as its top candidate. According to school staff, his dynamic personality and football experience made him a logical choice for the position.
Most recently, Knapczyk has been head football coach for Gateway Charter High School in Fort Myers. His previous experience includes head coach at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., associate head coach at Dean College in Franklin, Mass., and offensive coordinator at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. In addition, Knapczyk was on the 1987 Chicago Bears squad as a wide receiver.
