Umatilla High School’s Army JROTC sponsors 3-mile cross country challenge

The Army JROTC program at Umatilla High School is sponsoring a 3-Mile Cross Country Challenge on Saturday, April 27, at the Elks Youth Camp, located at 24175 SE Hwy 450 in Umatilla.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. and is chipped timed. This is a true cross country course with no asphalt.

The event will have two divisions. The Team Division will include College/Adult and JROTC/High School team competitions. Each team can include five to eight individuals with the top five counting using cross country scoring. Individuals in the team competitions also compete in the Open Division. The Open Division is open to all individual runners.

Awards will be given to the top three teams in each category and top three finishers in each age category in the individual open division. The top JROTC Team of any service will receive the Raider Cup and the top ten JROTC cadets will receive medals.

Entry fees for the team competition are $75 and individual fees are $20 if paid prior to April 1. After April 1, the team fee is $100 and the individual fee is $25.
