AMERICAN HISTORY TUTORING
Help your child succeed in school—sign up for free tutoring! South Lake High School will be offering free tutoring for American History students taking the End of Course (EOC) exam. Transportation will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays for students who need such assistance.
What will be covered in tutoring?
Tutoring will address topics that will be covered on the EOC and the AP US History Exam. We will focus heavily on the Florida Standards that start with the Civil War. Students will study key vocabulary as well as work on making connections between events to develop a deeper understanding of American history.
Which students are invited to attend?
Any student taking either American History or Advanced Placement American History. Any student who is struggling (making below a 70) is strongly encouraged to attend. If students are missing work, this would be a great time for them to come in to get caught up! Failing students are expected to attend tutoring at least once a week until they are caught up.
When/where are the tutoring sessions?
Every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:35-3:35 in Room 210 on main campus. The first session will begin on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 2:35-3:35.
What does my student have to do to attend?
Simple! All they have to do is sign up with their American History teacher on the Monday before the tutoring sessions on Tuesday/Thursday.
How does the transportation work?
Students who need transportation will get on a bus at South Lake at the end of tutoring (3:35) and will be taken to Gray Middle School or Clermont Middle School. Students will be required to stay on that bus until the GMS or CLMS administrator directs them to get on the bus that will take them to their neighborhood. Please be aware that this is a courtesy service being provided and students are expected to be respectful and mindful that they will be around middle schoolers and should act as role models.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Carolyn Bristo at email@example.com or you can contact your student’s teacher. We look forward to helping your student succeed!
