Media Center Procedures
PhilosophyWelcome to the Gray Middle School Media Center. It is the goal of the media program to support and provide free and open access to all information resources to the GMS community. The media center provides a learning environment, which promotes inquiry, creativity, self-direction, and communication of ideas through both print and non-print media
Location and HoursThe media center is located in building 1 of the GMS campus. Our online catalog is always available at www.GoFollett.com, and eBooks can be checked out and read from that catalog. To log into GoFollett, students will use their 10-digit student ID number as their username and password.
AccessStudents are welcome in the media center before school, during lunch, and with a pass from any class period. Teachers also schedule class visits.
Circulation PoliciesStudents are allowed to check out 4 books for a period of 2 weeks. Students who need more time with their book may renew them. Reference materials and magazines are for use in the media center only and cannot be checked out by students.Students are responsible for materials they check out and will be charged for overdue, lost or damaged books. While students are not charged overdue fees, they are expected to return materials on or before due dates. Students with overdue materials and/or fines will be notified periodically, and they are able to check the status of their accounts at www.GoFollett.com using their student ID as both their username and password.
While students will be able to continue checking out books, students with fines or lost books will not be eligible to participate in extracurricular events.
