The goal of the Reading/English Language Arts program is to coordinate the K - 12 Reading/ELA program through effective leadership and support of district teachers in the areas of curriculum development and alignment, instructional planning, assessment, and research-based best practices. The programs and practices that teachers implement are designed to meet individual learning styles in order to promote access and equity for all students.

As a Pre K – 12 Reading and English Language Arts program, we work diligently to produce literate primary, intermediate, middle, and high school students whose lives are enriched by their ability to read, write and speak eloquently, both in school and in the world at large.  The Lake County’s Curriculum Blueprints and Task Cards identify what is recommended in daily practice for reading and writing instruction at each grade level. The curriculum is aligned with the currently adopted Common Core State Standards and research-based best-practices; our curriculum employs explicit, intentional and differentiated instruction centered on the needs of all students. In alignment with our district-wide instructional framework, our learning schedules provide current curricular coherence by ticulating detailed practices that must be implemented in grade levels and classrooms across the district.
