I have been teaching persons with visual impairments as well as those with varying exceptionalities and those who are dual sensory impaired since 1986. I was drawn to education because I enjoy working with people of all abilities and enjoy the challenge of helping students learn and grow in ways that they never thought possible.

My father was both visually impaired and hard of hearing, so to me it was a natural progression to teach children and people of varying ages who have difficulty with both seeing and hearing and to help them become successful in accessing their environment safely and accessing the academic and work environment with devices and tools such as tablets, Braille machines, audio devices/players for talking books, video magnification systems, magnifiers, canes which helps access to academic items such as print, computers, reading, and their walking environment.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Visually Impaired and an endorsement in Orientation and Mobility and courses towards my masters in teaching students who are Visually Impaired as well as courses in Varying Exceptionalities from FSU and from FIU. I have been teaching at Lake Hills since the 2011-2012 school year and within Lake county since 1999, and before that in Miami-Dade Public School System from 94-98. Before that I was at the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and the Center for Independence Training and Education for the Visually Impaired and Multi-Handicapped in Orlando. I have gained invaluable experience working in each venue and am pleased to be working here at Lake Hills School with our wonderful students and staff.

Each day I learn more and more and continue to grow and be challenged to be the best teacher that I can be for our students. It is a privilege and an honor to be a teacher at Lake Hills School. In my spare time, I have raised my 21 year old son as a single mom who himself has varying challenges such as CP, ADHD, Vision problems, mobility devices and a seizure disorder. He is currently attending Beacon College and is living independently with some assist in his own apartment. I am an artist also in my spare time and love nature, swimming and the mountains. I am blessed to live in Florida and love to travel to places such as Alaska, North Carolina, and the beautiful springs and beaches of Florida. I attend my Christian church and am active there as well.
