Reading is a powerful way for children to build literacy skills, background knowledge and vocabulary. The most effective way to help your child at home is by providing exposure to books and reading at least 20 minutes every day. Read with your child in his/her native language and encourage him/her to read daily. Your child can aslo check-out books from the school media center or through the Lake County Library System. Ask your child's teacher about the Superintendent's Reading Challenge.
