    The first Educational Choice window for the 2019-2020 school year in Lake County is now closed. The next application window for the 2019-2020 school year is scheduled for June 1 through June 27, 2019.

     

    FIRST EDUCATIONAL CHOICE TRANSFER OPEN WINDOW – LAKE COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY

    Lake County Schools’ 2019-2020 Educational Choice Transfer (ECT) process provides an opportunity for a Lake County student to attend a public school outside the student’s assigned attendance area, as long as the requested school has capacity. As provided in statute, this window gives preference to Lake County residents.

     

    To be considered, parents or guardians must submit an Educational Choice Transfer Application to the district during the open window period – Feb. 1 to April 30, 2019. Submitting an application does not guarantee that the student will be approved for a transfer. It’s merely the first step for consideration.

     

    Applications will be processed through a random, computerized lottery. During this first window, applications may be made to closed capacity schools. These applications will be processed through the lottery and the students will be placed on a waiting list in the order selected through the lottery.

     

    SECOND EDUCATIONAL CHOICE TRANSFER OPEN WINDOW – OPEN TO ALL FLORIDA RESIDENTS

    This is your opportunity, if you are a Florida resident, to make application for the 2019-2020 school year for an Educational Choice Transfer to a Lake County school that has capacity and does not already have a waiting list.

     

    Application may be made during the open window – June 1 to June 27, 2019. Submitting an application does not guarantee that the student will be approved for a transfer. Applications will be processed through a random, computerized lottery.

     

    • Once the Educational Choice Transfer windows are closed, Supplemental Educational Choice Transfer Applications may be available depending on school, grade and/or program capacity. For more information, please contact the Educational Choice office at 253-6777.

     

    APPLICATIONS

    On or after February 1st, the application portal will open and be linked to this webpage to complete and submit an Educational Choice Transfer Application. Supporting documentation, if required, must be received by the Office of Educational Choice, either via the application portal or delivery of paper application and documentation, by 4 p.m. on the last day of either the first or second window. The office is located at 512 S. Palm Ave., Howey-in-the-Hills, FL 34737.

     

    Paper copy applications, along with supporting documentation, if required, must be in the Office of Educational Choice by 4 p.m. on the last day of either the first or second window.  The office is located at 512 S. Palm Ave., Howey-in-the-Hills, FL 34737. Applications must be submitted directly to this office. Applications will not be accepted at any other LCS office, including school offices.

     

    While the school district makes every effort to accommodate all educational choice requests, many of the district schools are at or above capacity, which means they cannot accommodate students who live outside the attendance area to which those students are assigned.

     

    Applications may only be submitted during the first Educational Choice Transfer Open Window for those schools that have closed capacity. These applications have the same deadlines and documentation requirements. The applicants will be placed on a waiting list for that school in the order designated by the lottery process.
