New Hire Process ~ Welcome to Lake County Schools

New Employee Orientation (NEO) is mandatory for all Lake County Schools employees. Orientation will last approximately three (3) hours and is held at the District school board office. An HR Specialist will contact you to schedule an NEO appointment.

Drug Testing Information

Lake County Schools requires a pre-employment urine drug screening in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Drug screening will occur on the day that you attend New Employee Orientation. If drug screening is not available on the day New Employee Orientation is held, HR will provide pre-employment screening information and the Drug Test Screening Notification Packet to the potential employee.

As of February 2, 2019, the pre-employment urine drug screening fee is $20.00. You must receive a Drug Testing Notification Form from an HR specialist before you can complete drug screening at one of our approved sites.

Fingerprinting Information

The Lake County School District requires fingerprint screening according to State and Federal Guidelines. All Employees, must be fingerprinted at the District Office. Interns and Volunteers may be fingerprinted at the District Office or at an approved fingerprinting site.

New Instructional and new Non-Instructional employees will be required to attend a New Employee Orientation and will be fingerprinted at orientation. Newly hired employees and Interns are required to register for fingerprinting and pay a fee of $73.25 on-line by credit/debit card. A check can be used as an alternative method of payment; however this method may delay results pending payment clearance.

**FOR EMPLOYMENT APPLICANTS ONLY**Steps to complete fingerprint registration:

  1. Human Resources will contact the applicant to schedule the fingerprint appointment and to provide the correct fingerprint code. Applicants CANNOT register for fingerprinting without a scheduled appointment and fingerprint code.
    (Same day appointments and walk-ins may not be permitted)
     
  2. Two forms of ID are required at the time of fingerprinting:
    • A.) Acceptable Primary IDs include:
      • State-Issued Driver’s License
      • State-Issued Non-Driver’s License ID Card
      • US Passport ·Military Identification Card
      • Work Visa with Photo
    • B.) Acceptable Secondary IDs include:
      • Credit/Debit Card Bank Statement
      • Electric Bill
      • Birth Certificate
      • Citizenship or Naturalization Certificate

Once you have registered for fingerprints, print out the registration confirmation and bring with you to your appointment. This will be found on the last page of registration. If you do not have a printer, write down your registration number to bring with you the day of your fingerprint appointment.

Be sure to bring the following items to the scheduled New Employee Orientation. Failure to bring all items listed may hinder your ability to complete the new hire process in a timely manner. 

  • CURRENT copy of your Driver's License.
  • CURRENT copy of your Social Security Card.
  • Official Transcripts for Instructional and Paraprofessional (Teacher Assistant) applicants.
  • Forms which you DOWNLOADED and COMPLETED - including Insurance/Benefit forms.
  • Registration Confirmation number from the last page of the online registration for fingerprinting is necessary.
  • Check with VOID written across it for the purpose of initiating direct deposit.
