Substitute Teachers

 

The Substitute Teacher Application Process is: CLOSED

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Substitute Teacher with Lake County Schools. Substitute Teachers provide a valuable service to our students and schools. As a Substitute Teacher, you will work on an as-needed basis, selecting jobs based on when and where you would like to work. This flexible schedule is well-suited for those who are pursuing a degree in education, parents with children in school, or retirees.

To be considered for a Substitute Teacher position, you must complete an online application. Please visit our Employment page to access the online job application.

During each application window, prospective applicants will be reviewed, and qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule a virtual interview with a member of the Substitute Team.

Applying to Become a Substitute Teacher

When creating your account in the online application system, make sure you select the Relief Bus Driver/Substitute/Lay Coach applicant type as shown below:

Select the Relief Bus Driver/Substitute/Lay Coach option.

Please note: your application must include a minimum of 2 references with a contact number and email address in order to be considered complete. After the application is complete, you must click on the Jobs tab, then click on All Jobs as shown below:

Click on the All Jobs tab.

You must then click on the View/Apply button next to the Substitute Teacher posting to apply for the position.

Additional Information
As indicated on the Substitute Teacher job description, the minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Florida educator certification preferred, but not required
  • Classroom experience preferred

Additional job requirements include:

  • Reliable Transportation
  • Access to the Internet
  • Ability to work as a substitute teacher at least 4 days a month

Pay Scale for Substitute Teachers:Please note: This new pay scale for Substitute Teachers is effective 09/19/2022*

Highest level of education is a:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate's degree or higher

$112.50 per full day*

*Half a day would equate to 50% of daily total

Hold a valid Florida Teaching Certificate

in any content area and/or a retired Lake County Schools teacher

$115.00 per full day*

*Half a day would equate to 50% of daily total
