STEM education is designed to promote hands-on learning to increase student engagement, interest, and achievement in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Students prepare for college and careers through problem-based learning with an emphasis on 21st Century Skills.
The STEM Implementation Scale will ensure that all elementary, middle, and high school students in Lake County have problem-based learning experiences that reinforce the collaborative nature of the 21st century workplace. Research suggests that problem-based learning increases student interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.
The K-12 STEM Plan outlines the District's plan for implementing and monitoring Lake County STEM initiatives.
The Elementary STEM School Criteria was created using the Lake County STEM Implementation Scale to create a climate of culturally embedded STEM Education.
STEM Bowl is an annual competition between elementary schools in Lake County that focuses on the integration of grade level content standards, critical thinking, and problem solving while fostering collaboration and team work among students.
