Lake County Schools has always believed that because each child is different, parents should have access to educational choices that meet their child’s unique needs. That’s why for years we have supported parents having a wide variety of options in our district including allowing their student to attend a neighborhood school, a traditional school outside their attendance boundaries with an approved zone waiver, virtual school, charter school, magnet school, dual enrollment programs, advanced placement and special programs such as our Health Sciences Collegiate Academy in south Lake County.
OPEN ENROLLMENT BEGINS FEB. 1
In Lake, the first Educational Choice (EC) Open Window for the 2021-2022 school year is February 1 to April 30, 2021. That’s when Lake County residents can choose a school for which they are not zoned and apply to attend. There will also be a second EC Open Window for applications in June 2021 for schools with capacity for any Florida resident, both in and out of Lake County.
Parents/Guardians will be notified of the results of each window – for the first window, notifications should be received around the middle of May; for the second window, notifications should be received around the middle of July. Please note that if a notification of Placement on a Waiting List is received, there is no guarantee that the waiting list will be activated. It is recommended that a student on a waiting list be enrolled in their zoned school.
If you are interested in a school that still has capacity for the current school year, please check the capacity list below. If the school is still open, please contact our department as shown below.
