Educational Choice
An Educational Choice Transfer (ECT) provides an opportunity for a Kindergarten-12th grade child to attend a traditional Lake County Public School outside their assigned attendance area. Per Florida statute 1002.31 (2)(a), the requested school cannot reach capacity and is subject to the maximum class size pursuant to s. 1003.03 and s. 1, Art. IX of the State Constitution. Preference is given to students residing in Lake County. Please note: Charter schools, magnet schools and pre-k programs are responsible for their own enrollment.
Current Capacity List for 2022-2023 School Year
To be considered, the Parent/Legal guardian of the child must submit a completed ECT online application during the following appropriate application window(s).
IMPORTANT NOTES
-
A submitted ECT application does not guarantee that the child will be approved for a transfer.
-
The LCS district does not provide transportation to/from a school for an ECT.
-
If the child is enrolled and attending the ECT preferred school, the transfer is good to the highest grade at that school. There is no need to re-apply every year to the same school.
-
The ECT does not provide for current 5th and 8th graders to be promoted from elementary to middle schools, or from middle to high schools as part of the feeder system.
-
A new ECT application must be completed to request a different out-of-zone school.
-
The child cannot be subject to a current expulsion or suspension.
