I am so excited to be joining the Leesburg Elementary School family as Assistant Principal for Pre-K through 1st grade. I am originally from New York but have been a Florida resident for over 20 years. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Studies from Bethune-Cookman University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from National Louis University.
I began my teaching career with Lake County Schools at Gray Middle School in 2006 where I served as an ELA teacher, department chair, mentor and member of several school based committees. After spending nine years in the classroom, I transitioned to the district as an ELL School Specialist. In this role, I supported teachers with instructional strategies for English Language Learners and assisted school sites with ESOL Compliance. In addition, I was a district ELA lead for DA schools where I participated in instructional reviews, analyzed standards-based instruction and provided weekly support to common planning. Before coming to Leesburg Elementary, I served as the Title III and ESOL Program Specialist where I continued to support English Language Learners in Lake County as well as managed programs to support language acquisition and ESOL Instruction.
As a child, it was always a dream to be a teacher. I have a passion for educating students and am looking forward to joining the Leesburg Elementary School faculty and staff where I will continue the mission: “Empowering Students to Become Tomorrow’s Leaders!”
