Mrs. Sharon Carr

Welcome back to school!  I look forward to a fantastic year.  I am the ESE School Specialist.  I am excited to be a Silver Knight and move to the Castle.  I have taught EBD for the majority of the last ten years at Mount Dora Middle, as well as Eustis and Umatilla Middle Schools; Beverly Shores Elementary School.  Last year I was the ESE School Specialist at Mascotte and Cypress Ridge Elementary Schools.  Prior to EMS I was a bookkeeper at Tavares High School for five years.  I was also one of the swim team coaches.

I was fortunate to be a "military brat," exposed to many cultures, races and religions.  I was born in Virginia to a Yankee and Southerner.  We then moved to Texas, where I began on the swim team at the age of 3 (and continued through high school).  We moved to Naples, Italy, when I was 6 and my father worked with NATO.  It was a wonderful life, travelling Europe.  We then returned and moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia, where I graduated high school.  I left and moved to Alabama for college.  I returned to the Atlanta area where I married and began a career in apartment management in 1991 after a short stint in the Army.  Out family moved to Florida in 1997 to be near my parents.  My older brother, who was also military, and is now a captainfor NetJets Airlines, is also a Florida resident.

I am happily married.  We have four beautiful daughters and a son, ranging in age from 22 to 32.  Two are married and we have three grandsons (newborn, 3 and 6 yrs) and two granddaughters (both 3 yrs).  We also have two four-legged children.  We live in the area and love to boat and spend family time.  I am currently the president of the local PEO Chapter, providing scholarships for women.  My family does not come without our own hurdles such as being steps, halves or adopted; RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder), ADHD, Bi-Polar, and ODD.

I spend my off time boating with the family, reading (my favorite author is Steve Alten, especially his Meg Series), listen to forensic podcasts and watching House Hunter's International, Big Bang Theory and Modern Family.  I am also the president of Chapter JD in the PEO Sisterhood...a philanthropic organization providing scholarships for women.

My time is split between Oak Park and Leesburg High School.  I will be a Knight on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; a Yellow Jacket on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Hours at Oak Park are 8 to 4.
