SCHOOL DRESS CODE POLICY
The dress code is an outward expression of courtesy and respect that all members of the school community have for each other, themselves, and the school. Through it, distractions are minimized so the students are better able to focus on their education rather than on commercial, political or fashion statements. In order to establish an atmosphere conducive to learning, dress and appropriate grooming are required.
All students shall conform to the uniform policy that has been set forth by our parents and instructional personnel of Sawgrass Bay Elementary. All dress will express the need for uniformity and fairness to all students.
Neatness/ Cleanliness: All clothes shall be clean and neat. All students will be encouraged to wear shirts/blouses tucked in.
Top: Students are expected to wear light blue, navy, white, red or pink shirts/blouses with a collar, polo-type shirts. School t-shirts/school club shirts may be worn as well. Students will not be permitted to wear any pullover (covering uniform) type of hoodie/shirt while in the building.
Pants/shorts/skirts/jumpers: Students are expected to wear khaki, or navy pants, skirts, shorts, or jumpers. Belts are recommended, but not required. Skirts, skorts, shorts, or jumpers must be no shorter than mid-thigh. Girls will be allowed to wear shorts underneath skirts or jumpers. However, skirts, skorts, shorts, or jumpers must STILL be no shorter than mid-thigh with shorts or leggings. Jeans (denim only) may be worn on Fridays. Closed shoes, sneakers with socks, or closed toe sandals with back straps must be worn at all times on campus.
Unacceptable Attire/Grooming (General Guidelines):·Attire printed with media/cartoon images, popular musical groups, sports
teams or written messages·Extremes in hair style or unnatural hair color (ABSOLUTELY NO MOHAWKS)·Attire that permits the exposure of undergarments·Oversize or extreme jewelry
We expect all students to follow the dress code. We will be glad to help any family who is in need of clothing. Please contact our Family School Liaison. NOTE: School administrators reserve the right to determine interpretation of all dress code items. Dress code rules may be modified or added as necessary by school officials. Dress code violations will be treated as a disciplinary infraction.*For the 2017-18 school year, we will not have a cold weather policy on jeans. On cold days, students are still expected to be in a school uniform (uniform pants are encouraged on chilly mornings). Jeans will only be allowed to be worn on Fridays, despite the weather.*
