I am proud to say I graduated as the valedictorian of the Class of 1977 of Leesburg High School. I am a true fan of the Fighting Yellow Jackets! I do believe that academics should come first in a student's educational experience, but I also support extra-curricular activities. I enjoyed being a cheerleader, swim team manager, class officer, student government officer, club member, and yearbook editor at LHS. I think that a well-rounded student is the best way to enjoy and excel in high school.
I graduated with high honors from Lipscomb University, a small Christian college in Nashville, Tennessee with my B.A. in Secondary Education of Mathematics in 1981. While there I also served in student government, Civitan, and my social club Pi Delta.
I then taught for several years in Atlanta at Southwest Dekalb and Redan high schools. At that time I also coached the cheerleaders. After that, I enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom before coming to LHS in January, 2004. In 2017, I was named the Lake County Teacher of the Year and the 2018 Florida Teacher of the Year. Currently, I serve as the math department chairperson and help with Mu Alpha Theta.
I also serve as the Pre-School Coordinator at my church, S.14th St. Church of Christ and teach many young children's classes. I love my church family, but my pride and joy is my own family! I have an incredible husband, four amazing children, a new son-in-law, and a fun black lab.
