Quilts-to-Books Service ProjectFor twelve years, fourth grade teacher, Mrs.Olson, and Astatula Elementary third grade teacher, Mrs. Goring, have led the Quilts-to-Books Service Project, which provides books for a teacher whose classroom was destroyed in a natural disaster. During the school year students create a quilt square around a theme, then the squares are sewn together to create beautiful lap quilts. In May, during our annual Celebration of Learning, all the quilts are given away through chance drawings. Through the generosity of our families and staff, thousands of dollars have been raised through these drawings to purchase books to rebuild a teacher's class library. This year our project will benefit Lucian Adams Elementary School in Port Arthur, Texas who had a catastrophic flood. Look below to see what happened to Lucian Adams Elementary on August 2017.The money we make this year will be used to purchase books for Lucian Adams Elementary School.
