Celebratory Best Practice:
“I find time outside of school to share in the interests and activities of the students. Whther it's an invitation to a theater show, a sports competition, or any kind of event where they are trying to perform at their best, I will do my best to be there, to acknowledge them, and to cheer them on. What these students do outside of school matters just as much as what they do in school so lets celebrate their hard work."
Instructional Best Practice
“During class I make the effort to talk to as many students as possible individually. This starts by bringing myself to their eye level and making a direct effort to communicate with them, usually by asking a question for them to answer. In this way I want to get a feel for how the students are reacting to what is going on in class today and hopefully connecting with to the point where they will feel more comfortable coming to me and initiating meaningful conversation in the future.”
“Start where you are. Use what you have.
Do what you can.” – Arthur Ashe
