    Teacher Profile

I was born and raised in Upstate New York. I received my BA in English from SUNY Fredonia in 2001. In 2005, I received my MA in English Literature from Binghamton University. Then in 2007, I received my MS in Education from Elmira College.  I then moved down to Florida with my husband in the summer 2007 and started my teaching career.  Currently, I live in Minneola with my husband and three children.

    Celebratory Best Practice

What I have learned that a phone call home to parents to praise their child makes a world of difference in the student’s self-performance.  I try to make a point to do this as much as possible, especially if a student needs that boost to succeed in his or her future.

    Instructional Best Practice

One of my favorite best practices is when I get students moving around the room.  From the very beginning of the lesson students start off with a bell ringer where they have to move about the room in order to work on the lesson.  It makes students responsible for their learning and I, as the teacher, get to be the observer.  Students learn more effectively and when students move they tend to have more fun within the classroom, thus creating a fun and comfortable learning environment.
