Welcome to Mrs. Kuhn's English Classroom
English I Honors
In this class, students will explore language for expressive, explanatory, critical, persuasive, and literary purposes. There will also be a focus on critical thinking, grammar, vocabulary and root words as students prepare for the SAT, FSA, and other college bound tests. English Language Art courses support student acquisition of the skills and knowledge to meet the ELA Florida Standards by providing engaging and relevant activities, incorporating appropriate rigor that challenges students to apply concepts/skills and to explain thinking with the application of knowledge. This year we will be implementing personalized learning in the English classroom. The vision for personalized learning is to provide an environment where the learners drive their own learning and connect learning with their own interests and aspirations.
The most important aspect of success for your student is communication. Therefore, I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns throughout this school year. I also encourage students to think freely when discussing and understanding literature. To enhance this notion, I maintain an environment where students should feel free to express their opinions so long as students maintain respect for their peers and for me.
Let’s work together to have a great year on The Ridge!
