This is my second year teaching at Minneola Elementary Charter School but my 14th year teaching in Lake County. My passion is teaching students who lean in a self-contained ASD unit. I’ve also taught students with specific learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities. Before switching to ESE, I taught 8th grade pre-algebra, algebra and algebra honors. I was selected as Rookie Teacher of the Year and Teacher of the Year at Windy Hill Middle School. I was also a finalist for Lake County Teacher of the year in 2014-2015 school year.
I’m originally from Ypsilanti, MI. I graduated twice from Eastern Michigan University. First, I graduated with a degree in Public Relations with a minor in Journalism. I worked for a local ambulance company doing community outreach in local schools and directing their Camp 9-1-1 Program. Next, I worked in a marketing department for Ford Motor Company where I got the privilege of traveling with Elmo, Rosita and Telly Monster while teaching parents about car seat safety. After September 11th, I went back to school to get my teaching certificate in elementary education with a focus in middle school math.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my 4 ½ year-old daughter Alexis and my husband Walter. I can be found at Target, Lowry Park Zoo, Sea World, Ritter’s, Over the Top Pita or at the beach. Those are just a few of my favorite places. I love writing reviews for Trip Advisor so trying new restaurants and adventures is something that I enjoy doing.
