The boys soccer team faced 2 of their toughest challenges last week and had their first official game together.  We faced off with Seabreeze at their house in Ormond beach on Tuesday and although we played well, the teams chemistry was not there yet and we were unable to produce many goals and took a rough 5-1 loss with our only goal being scored by Michael Kempany off a penalty kick.  On Thursday we faced off with the #2 team in central FL, Olympia. The Eagles played a FANTASTIC game and kept the number 2 team to only 3 goals.  Although the team lost 3-0,  they were able to find some chemistry and rhythm against a tough opponent.

JV took home a solid 3-0 win against Tavares.  Jacob Gomez scored an amazing goal with a header off a corner kick.  Gabriel Diez and Mario Lopez added two more goals to the score to solidify the win.  Varsity came away with a 6-4 victory.  After an incredibly rough start and the Eagles were down 2-1 at halftime.  In the second half, the Eagles finally picked up the pace and found their rhythm scoring 5 goals in the second half.  Gino Maglioccheti stood out as a key player scoring 4 of our 6 goals.  Kaleb White and Ivan Cabrera each added a goal to the final score as well.

    Girls Soccer

Lady Eagles had their first win of the season against Tavares High and this was a district game.  They jumped up to a early two goal lead within the first ten minutes.  Lady Eagles looked sharp the first fifteen minutes and took on some pressure from Tavares Bulldogs.  The physical nature of the game took a toll on the Lady Eagles causing them to pick up injuries and yellow cards.  It wasn't until the 2nd half the Lady Eagles settled down and started moving the ball around.  The young players got in and got some playing experience.  We now prepare for our game Thursday against Eustis Panthers.

South Lake Boys Basketball opened up the season with a Win over Four Corners High School in a Pre-Season Classic, they played well as a team and really shared the ball extremely well as 11 players got into the scoring column.  Braxsten Sullivan led the way with 16 points and was 5-6 from the Free Throw line, Justin Pace added 9 and Malcolm Reed did a great job defensively as he pulled down 12 rebounds.  South lake will face Celebration Friday night.
