     School Attendance:
Your child’s regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her success. I can’t emphasize this point enough!  Most Kindergarten learning activities are group-oriented and involve interaction with classmates. Therefore, it is next to impossible to make up work at home. You must send a note to school with your child if he or she has been absent. Please call the office if your child is absent for more than one day.
     Change in Transportation:
If there is a change in the way your child will be going home (different bus, or if they will be a car rider) PLEASE send a note in and let me know.  I can not just take the child's word that he or she is supposed to go home a different way.  If you are going to have another person pick your child up from school, make sure you send a note to me, and that the person is on your child's pick-up list in the office. The person must be prepared to show proper identification before the school will release your child to him/her.
    Nightly Folders:
I will send home a folder nightly.  PLEASE check for important information and daily behavior and RETURN this folder to school each day.  The students’ daily behavior will be marked on the calendar in the folder. Please initial the day on the calendar each night. Students must bring their backpack and folder to school every day.
PLEASE make sure that your child is wearing PE-appropriate tennis shoes on PE days AND EVERY WEDNESDAY. Please be aware that we also might go outside for physical activity on non-PE days. The specials for each day is on our daily calendar in your child's daily folder.
In our class, we use a color system for behavior. The system is like a ladder. Each student will start on green, and can work his/her way up or down, according to behavior. I do let students earn their way up one level, if they make better choices after moving down. If he/she comes home on a color other than green, it is because he/she moved down, then still did not make good choices to earn the clip back up to green.
    We use the following colors:
    1. Pink—Extra-special behavior. Pink is a very special color, so it will not always be used unless behaviors go above and beyond classroom rules. Students will earn a super-special treat when on pink.
    2. Purple— Wonderful day! Special color for when students do something great! Students will earn a special treat when on purple.
    3. Green— Ready to learn! Good day! Your child should be expected to be on green daily. When on green, students will earn a daily treat.
    4. Yellow— Slow down! Poor choice are being made. No daily treat and possible “cool down” time.
    5. Orange— Poor choices have continued. No daily treat and “cool down” time will be required.
    6. Red— Stop! Poor choices have continued. No daily treat, “cool down” time will be required, and loss of privilege. If the behaviors continue, student may be sent to the office.

    * Please remember to send a snack for your child daily!!
    * Please put the snack in your child's backpack. If your child brings his/her lunch from home, it is better to put the snack in the backpack, so that they don't eat their snack at lunch.
    * Please check your child's folder daily. Important information goes home frequently.
    * Please initial each day on the behavior calendar stating that you looked through your child's folder.
    * Please make sure to place any notes/money in your child's folder. Please label any money with what it is for.
    * If you want to volunteer, you MUST fill out a volunteer form on the county website. After you do that contact Serita Morgan our volunteer coordinator at morgans@lake.k12.fl.us or 742-2291   ext. 7938, let her know you have completed your online volunteer application.
