    Welcome To Mrs. Oradat's Class

Hi, my name is Sarah Oradat.  I was born and raised in Winter Garden, FL. and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 2012. I am certified in Elementary Eduation (K-6), ESOL ( English to Speakers of Other Languages) and I have a reading endorsement. I'm excited to be your child's first teacher in his or her educational journey. I look forward to creating a parent teacher relationship that will strenthen your childs success in kindergarten.

You can send lunch money to with your child or go to myschoolbucks.com. The cost is $1.90 and $0.40 to reduced lunch.

    What are we learning?

We build upon all of the skills that we work on. For instance, in reading students will be tested on a set of sight words for the first nine weeks. For the second nine weeks, they will be tested on the same words, and will have more words added to their report card. Please help your child at home by practicing the skills we work on in school. :)

Math: We will begin the year counting to 25. We will work on identifying numbers, and matching sets of items to the numeral it matches. ( Example: Match 8 blocks to the number 8). We will also practice calendar skills, shapes and colors.

Reading: We are always working with letters and sounds. Please practice the sight words, rhyming, and letters and sounds with your child daily. Practice makes perfect!

Writing: We write in our journals daily, and are focusing on sounding out using enviromental print and illustrating our writing. Eventually, we will move to focusing on making a complete sentence, including a capitol letter, spaces between words, and puncuation at the end. Students will also be working on writing all of the sounds they hear in a word, not just the beginning sound. The writing journals will be send home at the end of the year, and you will be amazed at their writing growth throughout the year!

Handwriting: We work on handwriting daily to help students become more comfortable with writing the letters and numbers correctly. When students write letters and numbers backwards, it's usually developmental, so do not be concerned. Please help you child practice his or her handwriting at home.

    Behavior Interventions

In our class we use a color system for behavior. This system is like a ladder. Each student wil start on pink, and work his/her way up or down , according to behavior. I DO let students move their clips back up, if their behavior improves after moving their clip down. If your child comes home on a color under pink, it is because your child has made poor choices and was not able to earn it back with making better choices. We use the following colors.

BLUE- Wonderful day! Special color for when students do something great! Students will earn a special treat when on blue.

GREEN- Positive choices! Student is making positive choices and will earn a special treat.

PINK- Ready to learn! Good day! Your child is expected to be on pink daily. When on pink, students will earn a special treat.

YELLOW-  Think about it. Poor choices are being made. No daily treat and possible "cool down" time.

ORANGE- Stop! Poor choices have continued. No daily treat, "cool down" time will be required and loss of privilige. If the behavior continues, student ma be sent to the office.
