The Lake County School Board Regular Meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of each month, unless a holiday occurs on that date, or as otherwise noted. Under current CDC guidelines, the Regular Meetings are held at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Lake County School District Office, 201 West Burleigh Boulevard, Tavares, Florida. The meetings are aired live and can be accessed through the district website: www.lake.k12.fl.us.
In accordance with Florida’s Sunshine Law, all meetings are open to the public, except Executive Sessions.
In addition to Regular Meetings, the School Board holds Workshop sessions to discuss issues and these sessions are open to the public and are currently held in accordance with CDC guidelines and held in the Board Room of the Lake County School District, 201 West Burleigh Boulevard, Tavares, Florida, unless otherwise noted. The Workshops are aired live through the district website: www.lake.k12.fl.us. There is no formal action taken at these sessions. Special Meetings are held at the discretion of the Superintendent and School Board and are open to the public and formal action is taken.
The School Board may also schedule Public Hearings as needed and these are open to the public and allow for public participation on a particular issue before the School Board takes formal action.
All Regular Meeting, Workshop, Special Meeting and Public Hearing notices are published in the Daily Commercial.
Anyone wishing to address the School Board on a particular issue may attend a meeting or workshop in person and submit a public input card to the Board Clerk before the start of the meeting. The District will comply with CDC guidelines for groups of no more than 10 people in the Board Room at a time. The cards for public input are available at the entrance to the Board Room at the Lake County School District Office. There is an option for submitting public input online by sending an email to PublicInput@lake.k12.fl.us with the submitter’s name, email address, phone number and agenda item to be discussed. The emailed requests are accepted through 4 p.m. the day of a regular meeting and 4 p.m. the business day before the workshop. A link will be sent to those speakers and they can address the board virtually through the Zoom web application on the day of the meeting or workshop. There will be a three minute time limit for each speaker.
