Bill Mathias, District 1
A resident of Okahumpka, Bill Mathias was first elected in 2012 and again in 2014 to the Lake County School Board.
Bill was educated in the public school system in Jacksonville, Florida. Upon graduation from high school in 1972, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps. Honorably discharged in 1976, Bill unitized the benefits of the G, I. Bill and returned to college. In 1981 he received his Bachelor in Business Administration. In 1982, he moved to Lake County and founded Mathias Foodservice Equipment Company located in Leesburg, FL. In 2001, he returned to college and in 2003 received with honors his Master Degree in Organizational Management.
Based on a successful business career he brings a unique perspective to a diverse board.
Bill is a member of the Catholic Community of St Paul’s, American Legion, post 101, 4th degree Knights of Columbus, member Leesburg and South Lake Chamber of Commerce, member of the Leesburg Partnership.
Bill serves as school board liaison to the Chamber Alliance, alternate to the CFACC, renewal of one cent sales tax, and alternate to the MPO committee.
