    Teacher Biography:
I am currently the Media Specialist and AP Seminar teacher at Lake Minneola High School.  I earned my BA in English from Cleveland State University, and over the course of my teaching career, I have added numerous endorsements and National Board Certification to my teaching credentials. I am also an experienced editor and published writer.
Conservation is one of my passions, and each summer I spend several weeks volunteering along Florida's Atlantic coast beaches assisting biologists with sea turtle nest monitoring.
    Celebratory Best Practice

Everyone enjoys recognition for a job well done.  Too often people forget to say thank you or good job.  I recognize my students who demonstrate hard work and excellence with digital badges.  Students earn digital badges for completion, performance, going above and beyond, and risk taking!  Students doing something exceptional deserve recognition!

    Instructional Best Practice:

Writing is more than words, time, and effort.  No writing is ever perfect the first time, and rarely the second.  Good writing requires revision; good writing needs to change and evolve in order to convey an intended message or idea.  Students must be given opportunities to work through the writing process: teachers need to edit student writing, confer with students on their writing, and provide students the opportunity to rewrite and change their writing.  Writers are not born being able to express their ideas clearly, but are developed using constructive feedback and practice.
    Inspirational Quote

“You know you've read a good book when you turn the last page and it feels a little as if you have lost a friend.”
