Pine Ridge Elementary receives top ranking for behavioral intervention program
Pine Ridge Elementary School achieved Gold Level status as a model school in the Florida Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support project (FLPBIS) through the University of South Florida’s Florida Center for Inclusive Communities.
FLPBIS model schools are committed to the mission of PBIS to improve social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students, especially those with disabilities and those from underrepresented groups. In order to achieve this level of recognition, Pine Ridge Elementary was required to meet a list of criteria exemplifying special efforts toward the success of students who have special needs.
Per the PBIS website, Gold Level status indicates that the school was “able to produce evidence of well-established systems to provide Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavioral Intervention Plans, and inter-agency collaboration to meet the needs of students.” Gold Level Schools also have a history of involvement in helping to develop PBIS efforts in other schools.
Pine Ridge became a FLPBIS model school during the 2013-2014 school year. They are the first model school in the district. They first reached Silver Level status during the 2016-2017 school year and are proud to have reached Gold Level status, which is the top model school status.
“Recognition as a FLPBIS Model School speaks to the positive learning community at Pine Ridge Elementary,” said Principal Laine Obando. “I am so proud of our teachers and staff for their commitment to offering a quality learning environment to meet the needs of all students.”
