School Board adopts $554-million budget for 2015-16

By a vote of 4 to 1, the Lake County School Board today adopted a final school district budget of $554,097,489 for fiscal year 2015-16.

A breakdown of the general fund shows 59.95 percent of the budget going toward total instruction this school year. School Board member Marc Dodd, who voted against the budget, wanted to see more.

“The instructional total has been pretty flat over the last few years,’’  Dodd said. “I just don’t know that this budget is moving in the right direction necessarily.”

The board also unanimously approved a final millage rate of 7.197 mills, which is expected to generate $126,230,643 in revenue.
