Middle and high school students invited to enter MLK literary contests

In preparation for the local 2016 Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Activities that take place each year in January, Lake County students are invited to enter the Student Literary Contests.

This year’s theme, “Moving Forward with the Legacy (Dream),” addresses the efforts men and women have made to help create fairness, equality and opportunity for all people. Contestants must address this theme in their entry by identifying individuals or groups who have promoted or engaged in activities that have actualized the dream.

The four categories of competition are essay, art project, skit/theatrical and speech/oratorical. Entries will be judged in the following subcategories: 6th through 8th grade, and 9th through 12th grade.

Prizes will be awarded in January as part MLK Awards Ceremony at the Leesburg Campus of Lake Sumter State College in the Convocation (Gym) Center.

All entries must be submitted by Thursday, Dec. 3. Click here for full contest rules and an entry form.
