New funding will go toward scholarship for Mount Dora Middle School student

The Charles B. and Mary M. McLin Foundation has awarded $2,250 to the local Take Stock in Children of Lake and Sumter Counties program to aid in purchasing a 2-Year Florida College Plan Tuition Scholarship for a Mount Dora Middle School student.

Take Stock in Children is a school-based scholarship and mentoring program modeled specifically to identify and provide college tuition scholarships to students throughout the state of Florida who fit the financial and academic guidelines. Students who are chosen to participate in the program are assigned a volunteer mentor and an advocate to ensure success throughout high school. Upon high school graduation, each program participant is awarded a college tuition scholarship. Take Stock in Children of Lake and Sumter Counties is a program of the Educational Foundation of Lake County.

The Take Stock in Children program is represented in all 67 counties in Florida. The local program receives a dollar for dollar match through the Florida Prepaid Foundation for any funds received for scholarships.
