Graduation rates increase at 4 high schools and Lake Virtual School

Graduation rates increased at four of Lake County’s eight high schools and at Lake Virtual School, according to data released today by the Florida Department of Education (DOE). 

While the graduation rate district wide slipped slightly from 76.6 percent in 2013-14 to 75.8 percent in 2014-15, it increased at East Ridge, Lake Minneola, Leesburg and Mount Dora high schools and Lake Virtual School.

 Additionally, though the rate dropped overall at Eustis, Tavares and Umatilla high schools, those schools saw increases in the graduation rate among minority students. At Tavares High School, the graduation rate for black students soared from 65.4 percent in 2013-14 to 86.7 percent in 2014-15. Umatilla High School saw a big increase in the graduation rate among Hispanic students. It jumped from 71.4 percent to 92 percent. Eustis High School also saw an increase for Hispanic students -- from 71.4 percent to 84.1 percent.
