Eustis schools win third place in statewide literacy award
Florida First Lady Ann Scott today presented a group of students from four Eustis schools a statewide third place award in the "Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!" Literary-Civics Service Contest. The students traveled to Tallahassee to receive the award after learning that they were among the top three prize winners.
The students from Eustis Heights and Eustis elementary schools, Eustis Middle School and Eustis High School teamed up to write an alphabet book with members of the community. The book highlights strategic points of interest in Eustis. They will use their $250 winnings to help get the book published so they can present copies to local day care centers and pre-schools.
"We are very proud!" said Rhonda Hunt, principal of Eustis Heights Elementary School.
