Free immunizations offered to student entering 7th grade in the fall

 

TAVARES – The Florida Department of Health in Lake County in collaboration with the Lake County School Board is offering free immunizations at schools across the district over the next two months for students who will be entering 7th grade in the fall.

 

Parents are being asked to beat the summer back-to-school rush and start preparing now by getting the required vaccinations conveniently and free of charge.

 

“The school-based immunization program is very convenient for parent,’’ said Genet Exalien, a nurse program specialist with the Florida Department of Health in Lake County. “Parents won’t have to miss work for the purpose of getting their child vaccinated in order to meet the 7th grade immunization entry requirements.”

 

The free immunizations will be given at the following schools:

Parents of current sixth grade students will receive information and required documentation in the mail from the Florida Department of Health in Lake County. Parents are required to complete, sign and return all documentation for their child to be vaccinated.

 

The following required vaccinations will be provided:

  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap)

  • Hepatitis B (Hep B)

  • Polio

  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)

  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
