Learn how 511 can help you navigate school day traffic
Now that a new school year has begun, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reminds employees, parents and students to stay safe and avoid traffic by using its free 511 Traveler Information System.
FDOT's 511 system provides real-time traffic information for the entire state. There are five ways motorists can receive traffic updates:
Download the free Florida 511 mobile app available on Google Play or Apple App Store.
Visit FL511.com for interactive roadway maps showing traffic congestion and crashes, travel times and traffic camera views.
Sign up for a "My Florida 511" account at FL511.com to create custom routes and register for email, text or phone alerts.
Call 511 toll-free for updates in English and Spanish.
Follow one or more of the 13 statewide, regional or roadway-specific Twitter feeds (#FL511), including @FL511_State.
Parents, teachers and students can sign up for route-specific email, text and phone alerts on FL511.com. Alerts can be customized by choosing the time of day, day of week, and type or severity of incidents.
Florida 511 is available on all phones located within Florida; however, standard cell phone minutes, text and data rates may apply.
