Lake students earn state recognition for videos at media festival


 

Lake County students produced four award-winning videos that earned statewide recognition at the recent Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME) Jim Harbin Student Media Festival.

 

1st Place:

Region 3-Lake, 3-5 Comedy, Astro Kids A Trip to the Moon, Pine Ridge Elementary, Sponsor: Julia Juhl; Student Producers: Annabelle Gamez, Cody Mazezka, Jennifer Oaks, Monzerrat Ortiz, Jeffery Cherry

 

Region 3-Lake, 3-5 Documentary, Amazing Siblings, Pine Ridge Elementary, Sponsor: Julia Juhl; Student Producers: Amelie Jaime, Antonio Jaime, Enzo Van Scoyk, Katie Van Scoyk, Trista Sahadeow, Travis Sahadeow, Pacside Kao

 

2nd Place:

Region 3-Lake, 3-5 Instructional, Let’s Go Camping, Pine Ridge Elementary, Sponsor: Julia Juhl; Student Producers:  Caitlyn Collins, Emma Mahoy

 

Region 3-Lake, 6-8 Instructional, How to Make an American Girl Skirt, East Ridge Middle, Sponsor: Kathy McTigue; Student Producers: Marysol Sarabia

 

The festival was created in honor of Harbin, a former consultant with the Florida Department of Education, who originated the idea of a statewide student media festival to recognize the excellent work being done across the state by student media producers. FAME sponsors the festival to encourage students to communicate through media production and to recognize and reward outstanding presentations.
