District is accepting Educational Choice applications throughout February

TAVARES – Starting in the 2017-18 school year, parents in Lake County and across the state will have more choices for their children’s education.

The revision of Florida Statute 1002.31 directs each school district to develop a controlled open enrollment plan that allows parents from any school district in the state to enroll their child in any public school that has not reached capacity.
In Lake County, open enrollment began Feb. 1.
Between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28, parents and legal guardians anywhere in the state can apply to have their children attend any public school or magnet program in Lake County. If a school has more applicants than available seats, student names will be entered into a lottery and randomly selected for those seats. Students who apply to schools with no capacity will be placed on a wait list.
