Carver Middle School Teacher Named Rookie Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Maverick Baer, teacher at Carver
Middle School, for being named Lake County’s 2018 Rookie Teacher of the Year. Mr.
Baer was recognized Wednesday March 22, 2017 during the Educational Foundation’s
annual Rookie Teacher of the Year celebration. He is an Emotional and Behavioral Disability Teacher a position he has held for two years.
Each Lake County school selects a teacher who has been teaching no more than 3 years as its
Rookie Teacher of the Year nominee. These nominees then submit an application
to the Educational Foundation for review. A selection committee of other
educators selects three finalists and names one grand prize winner.
Teacher of the Year, Mr. Baer received 4 passes to Walt Disney World, Orlando
Magic tickets and a Herff Jones ring.
Mr. Baer believes
education is at its best when it’s a team effort involving teachers, teacher
assistants, administrators, coaches and parents or guardians. In his acceptance
speech, he confessed, “Nothing I’ve ever done in life has been as hard as
teaching, but nothing has been as rewarding either.”
