63% of Lake 3rd-graders pass FSA reading test

Sixty-three percent of Lake County third-grade students passed the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) language arts test with a score of Level 3 or higher this year. That’s a six percentage point increase over 2016 scores – a larger increase than seven other Central Florida districts -- the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) announced this morning.

Florida’s public school students can be held back in third grade if they score a Level 1 on the exam.

Reading scores for Lake’s third-graders were posted on the parent portal this morning. Scores for students who retook the FSA English Language Arts (ELA) and Algebra 1 End of Course (EOC) exams will be posted this afternoon.

The Florida Department of Education has said it will have hard copies of the student reports by June 30. Grade 4-10 ELA, Grade 3-8 Math, Grade 5 and 8 Science and all EOCs are expected to be released in June as well. The district will notify parents when these reports are available.

If you have questions about the scores, promotion or graduation requirements, please contact your child’s school.
