Sixty-three percent of Lake County third-grade students
passed the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) language arts test with a score
of Level 3 or higher this year. That’s a six percentage point increase over
2016 scores – a larger increase than seven other Central Florida districts --
the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) announced this morning.
Florida’s public school students can be held back in third
grade if they score a Level 1 on the exam.
Reading scores for Lake’s third-graders were posted on the
parent portal this morning. Scores for students who retook the FSA English Language
Arts (ELA) and Algebra 1 End of Course (EOC) exams will be posted this
The Florida Department of Education has said it will have
hard copies of the student reports by June 30. Grade 4-10 ELA, Grade 3-8 Math,
Grade 5 and 8 Science and all EOCs are expected to be released in June as well.
The district will notify parents when these reports are available.
