Lake County Schools is pleased to announce that we will begin using the Raptor visitor management system in all of our school buildings at the start of the 2017-18 school year. It will allow us to better track visitors, contractors and volunteers in our schools.
Here’s how it works:
All school visitors – including parents well known to us – will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID that will be scanned into the system. Raptor will mark the time of the visitor’s arrival, and visitors will be asked to check out once they leave campus. The system will also compare the visitor’s name, date of birth and photo with those in a national database of registered sex offenders. No additional visitor data from the driver’s license will be gathered. Therefore, no other information connected to the driver’s license will be accessible to any of the Raptor users.
Once entry is approved, the school site will issue a badge using the Raptor system that identifies the visitor and the date and the purpose of the visit. It’s that easy! And you won’t need a visitor’s badge if you’re simply dropping off or picking up an item in the office.
