Ceremony will honor Eustis veterans who gave their lives for country
TAVARES – Members of the Eustis High School National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Student Government, Air Force JROTC and others will gather for a ceremony to pay tribute to former Eustis residents who paid the ultimate price in defense of our country.
The solemn ceremony, planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, will be held in the school courtyard around the flagpole.
The honorees include veterans dating back as far as World War I. A marble plaque for each war or conflict will be added to the exiting memorial on campus. Another plaque will be added for all who have served in each branch of the U.S. military.
“Although I strongly doubt the list is complete, we have endeavored for months to gather as many names as possible via social media, school records and the press,” said Don Snyder, advisor for the National Honor Society and National Beta Club at Eustis High. “We have made arrangements to add names in the future should we learn of any fallen heroes by adding blank plaques so the names can be inscribed at a later date.”
Invited guests include local and national dignitaries and family members of the honorees.
The public is invited to attend as well.
