Two Lake County High Schools 'Exceed Standards' for Air Force Junior ROTC

The Air Force Junior ROTC instructors and cadets of Mount Dora High School and Leesburg High School earned an overall unit assessment score of “Exceeds Standards”…the highest rating attainable…during their evaluation on 05-Dec-2018. 


 Maj Andrew C. Scott and SMSgt Gary L. Ward at Mount Dora High School and MSgt Craig A Morris and Maj Christopher E. Honeycutt created a dynamic and supportive learning environment coupled with an excellent community outreach. 


 At Mount Dora High School, the program has attained over 19,000 community service hours since the last unit assessment in academic year 2015.  Their efforts were instrumental in the unit earning “The Silver Star Community Service with Excellence Award in 2016 and again in 2018.  The award recognizes the top 5% of Air Force JROTC programs worldwide.


 The instructors at both schools provided outstanding leadership in administering the cadet centered citizenship program.  The cadets performed exceptionally well and took great pride in leading and accomplishing their unit goals. The Junior Air Force ROTC citizenship programs are making a positive impact on the cadets, the school and the community.
